Use the state-court service with Utah County scope

For Utah County, Utah criminal court records, begin with Utah Courts’ Xchange service. It contains public District and Justice Court case information entered by court staff. The District Court handles felonies and class A misdemeanors; Justice Courts handle most class B/C misdemeanors, infractions and traffic matters. A search scoped to Utah County should include the appropriate court level so a local Justice Court case is not missed.

Xchange is a case-information service, not a county jail roster, arrest-report archive or BCI criminal-history certificate. If the question is the disposition of a charge, retain the case and court reference and pursue that filing. If you are an eligible person following your own case, free MyCourtCase access may be more useful than paying to search public candidates.

Know the access cost before refining your search

One-time Xchange access starts with $10 credit, used at $0.35 per search and $1 per available document. Creating an account lets unused credit be used later; a guest session forfeits what remains. A monthly subscription instead has $25 setup and $40 monthly fees, includes 500 searches, then charges $0.35 for each extra search; documents remain $1. Courthouse public terminals are another access option at many District Courts.

Correct a too-narrow name search

In the search form, set the county or court scope and choose the relevant criminal case type. Use a known case number when available, but combine it with its court: case numbers and citation numbers are not unique statewide. Clicking Search is a billable search, so prepare the filters before submitting. Keep the exact search inputs with the result.

Middle names and initials can be entered in the first-name field. The official FAQ recommends an asterisk after a known first name, such as Alex*, to include those variants. If an expected case is absent, widen the name before concluding that there is no case, then compare the returned details carefully. A wildcard finds candidates; it does not verify identity.

If the result says more than 500 cases

Only the first 500 results are displayed when the limit is exceeded. Reduce the result set using Utah County, a specific court location, case type or a reliable filing/disposition date range. Do not read the first page as an exhaustive statewide result. If your goal spans multiple date periods, keep a record of which periods you actually searched so gaps remain visible.

Separate a missing case from an unavailable image

Xchange excludes juvenile, sealed and expunged cases. Older Justice Court matters can predate that court’s use of CORIS, and converted cases may be sparse. Federal charges belong to the federal court system. These limits explain why a no-match result cannot establish that all criminal records have been checked. Ask the identified court about an older case instead of repeatedly changing the name.

Public District Court documents available in electronic format and filed since July 1, 2010 are available through Xchange; the presence of a Justice Court summary does not promise the same image availability. Read the document or order that answers your question, not just a hearing event. For an unavailable filing or certified copy, contact the clerk where the case was filed and ask for its copy, certification and delivery terms.

Use MyCourtCase only when you qualify for case access

MyCourtCase is free for supported party access and now also permits a victim of a criminal case to create an account for that case’s documents and history. Registration needs an email address, case number and government-issued ID. Follow the court’s linking instructions; for a non-Utah ID, you can ask [email protected] for a secure submission link. Researchers should use Xchange rather than another person’s credentials.

Send a disputed entry to the court that entered it

Utah Courts directs incorrect Xchange data to the clerk in the court where the case is filed. Provide the court, complete case number, disputed text and the document you believe supports a correction. A technical access problem can go to [email protected]. Keep any unresolved discrepancy separate from the verified outcome; changing your search spelling does not correct the official record.
